This will be  an interactive training regarding the following:

1)  A brief introduction into why it makes sense to use DBT skills when providing SO Treatment

2) An overview/review of all the DBT Skills

3) Hands-on practice of  the more commonly used skills and how to incorporate  them into  S.O. specific treatment assignments

4) How to do a "BCA"

5) Diary Cards - what are they and how to use them in this context


Workshop Leader:  Ken Schafer, MA, LMHC, CSOTP


Ken has over 20 years of experience working in the field of mental health and social services.  


He has over 15 years of experience working as a clinician in the field of sex offender treatment.  He completes evaluation as well as providing ongoing individual and group counseling services for people convicted sex offenses, individuals that have been determined to have sexual behavioral issues, and individuals that are in need of general sexual boundary training and psycho education.


Ken has been trained in, and has incorporated DBT into his clinical practice since 1999.  He has  utilized DBT skills in a variety of residential, group and individual therapeutic settings.  He has completed advanced DBT intensive training and has been an active member of a weekly DBT consultation team.
