An exploration of kink interests: “Don’t [automatically] yuck their yum”

Molly Shepard will be offering an overview of all things kink, with a focus on how such interests may relate to and impact sexual offending-specific evaluation and treatment. As providers who routinely discuss sexual behavior, we will undoubtedly work with kinksters throughout our careers. This important area requires a thoughtful, person-centered, and risk-minded approach—particularly when navigating the difference between consensually practiced interests, harmful offending behavior, and all risk and protective factor considerations in between. Attendees can anticipate mention of additional gender and sexual minority-related topics, including the queer and polyamorous communities.
Molly Shepard is a licensed psychologist in Oregon who provides sexual offense-specific treatment and assessment services in various capacities. She graduated from Palo Alto University’s Clinical Psychology PhD program in 2020. She holds Oregon certifications as a Clinical Sexual Offense Therapist (CCSOT) and a Forensic Evaluator (CFE). She primarily works within the Oregon State Hospital's Sexual Offending Treatment Program wherein she also supervises predoctoral psychology interns and clinicians seeking CCSOT. She contracts with Western Clinical & Forensic Services, conducting sexual risk, diagnostic, and forensic evaluations. She serves as an at large board member of Oregon’s ATSA chapter (OATSA). Her primarily clinical and research interests involve sexual offending-specific treatment, assessment, and risk mitigation; supervision and training; cultural and language inclusivity; and kink, queer, and polyamorous identities.
